2014 Calendar
I was not going to produce a calendar for 2014 since I didn't photograph much in the last 6 months. However, I have a productive few weeks and I should have enough materials for a new calendar. It may or may not be in panoramic format.

Please let me know if you may be interested in purchasing one. Thanks. If there are enough demand, I will proceed. Thanks.

Calligraphy is "Easy"
This is for a "Mother's Day" present. This one means gentle and caring.

Single word or double word calligraphy can be done fairly quickly. Even the biggest 4-5 feet tall word is still done in less than a minute, may be 30 seconds at most.

So it's a simple thing to do right?! Well, this commission I just did - after going through the rest of my paper pack (about 16 sheets) without getting one I like, I felt like giving up and refund the money :-)

Fortunately, I have another pack of paper. I opened that, and took out my favorite brush, and... the first try with that is perfect.

Interested in getting one for your loved one? Let me know. $40, shipping included.

The Cost of Being Reasonable
Reasonable people say lets make assault rifles illegal, lets enforce the gun laws better, lets provide better access to health care, lets levy a bullet tax; and we get nothing.

Stop being "reasonable": Repeal the Second Amendment. The Founding Father did just fine without the amendment to overthrow the previous government. The South did not fare so well when it wanted to secede and they had guns.

The government, if they are evil and want to oppress you, it will not be in the form of military operations, it will be in the from the unnecessary searches in the airports, questionable wiretapping of your conversations, and allowing banksters to take the worldwide economy to the brink, then rescue them with our money and leave us to hang to dry. Oh yes, all those things did and continue to happen.

Repeal the Second Amendment, then we can write sensible gun laws allowing lawful citizens for reasonable activities.

Trivial Issues Compare to What Happened...
This is what I wrote to TechCU:

I set up a new Windows PC.

This is what I need to do to access my First Tech CU, AmEx card, Chase credit cards, Bank of America Cards: I login to their sites using https://. They detect that I am on a new machine, asked me a couple challenge questions and off I go.

To use TechCU? First I reinstalled the "secured browser," then I needed to login with a "passcode," which of course I have forgotten. I emailed your tech support and he sent me the code in a message sent through your secured email, which.. requires a password. So I need to tell the secured mail system that I forgot my password, answered a couple challenge questions, then reset my password so I can read the secured email.

Got my passcode for the secured browser. Then I started the "secured browser" and then I am asked to input a new PIN. To set up the new PIN, it asked me a couple more challenge questions, which of course I have forgotten the answers to (REALLY? Your favorite teacher? What? All you customers are in their 20s?) So I have to call your tech support and of course have to respond to a few challenge questions over the phone.

Did I tell you that all these times, all the passwords and PINs have to be entered using a Virtual Keyboard and I have to use MiXEd cASes and #%$%0123?

Do you guys USE the software you want your customers to use?

Do Bank of America, AmEx, Chase banks know something you don't? Or do you know something they don't?

Yes, feel free to contact me.

Qi and Sword
Dao (the Way, Path) is of course one of the first words I tried to master a few years ago when I picked up the brush again, being a semi-follower of the Dao and Buddhism. And the thing is .... it's really difficult to do well! The other common word that is hard to do? Qi. Most Qi calligraphy looks a bit anemic to me... One of these days, I will master "Qi Dao" :-)

Anyway, here are a few from tonight that I find acceptable:

ZHeng Qi, Righteous Qi
This ties in to Wu De 武德- which can be summarized as "do no evil and help others." Zheng Qi 正氣 directly reflects who you are. It's said that the highest level of Kung Fu can only be attained if you have the highest level of Zheng Qi.

(let me know if you can't see this)

Perefect Analogy
Using your piece of sh*t software is like certain operation where they cut, snip off portions, tied, then cauterized. Sure it's secured but boy does it hurt like a f*cking bastard. At least the operation is done only once.

Boosting the Signal
From my wife:
Anyone have any contacts in (Albuquerque) New Mexico? A friend's dog just had 6 puppies via C-section, but then she died possibly due to the vet improperly suturing her. Although he also has to work, he is feeding her pups 'round the clock. He as no one around to ask to help out (I would, but Albuquerque is far and pricey to fly.)

Fund Raising for Going to Costume Con 30
Hi all, as mentioned earlier, Costume Con 30 and Chicon will be my swan song doing official masquerade convention photography.
http://www.richardmanphoto.com/blog/?p=3489

I do masquerade photography as a service to the community and it's not even a low profit business but a money losing business.

In this difficult financial time, I am asking for help sending me to CC30. The simplest way is to purchase some prints of the photos I have taken of you or your groups:
http://www.rfman.com/SF%20and%20Fantasy%20Conventions

The prints are priced very low and honestly every bits help.
